Sometimes to take care of ourselves, all we need to do is notice.
Body:
Notice the aches and pains. Notice the beautiful and not so beautiful. Notice the signs of aging. If these physical realities that you notice evoke thoughts and emotion, notice those too.
Mind:
Notice your thoughts. Where do they turn – when you are alone or in a crowd? When you are busy or bored? When you are exercising or relaxing?
Spirit:
Notice your feelings. What triggers sadness, happiness, anger, fear, guilt, anxiety, excitement, courage? Notice your feelings.
Take note and:
ASK, BRUSH, CELEBRATE, DANCE, EXHALE, FAST, GINGER, HUGH, IMAGINE, JINK, KINDLE, LAUGH, MASSAGE.
Notice but don’t judge.
Take note and choose how you will respond.
Remember that a musical note that stands alone is simply a noise but when strategically strung together notes make beautiful music.
This is very good advice. Knowing your body and being mindful is so important to being a partner with your doctor in your healthcare.

Absolutely Mary Lou. I’ve always found it odd that people have not taken ownership of their health and discovered what works and doesn’t work for them. Thanks for joining the conversation.

I had to giggle at this post, Janet. It’s well-done but it’s exactly the opposite of what I do. I ignore my body’s aches and pains. I discard thoughts I don’t like. And I refuse to acknowledge feelings that aren’t positive. I have no idea if this works or not but I haven’t died yet!

That is funny Jacqui. I believe we have to do what works for us. Lots of ways to do life! I’m glad you’ve found what works for you. Thanks for joining the conversation.

Excellent reminders! I needed to hear this today so thank you. Happy Wednesday! I’ve been walking more, and noticing more aches and pains. If I continue walking (with my dog), I hope that some of those achy pains will go away. It is very important to keep in mind that we have a mind, body and soul/spirit!

The key is to notice, as you said, without judgment. For me meditation is very helpful in achieving this. Thank you for the reminder.

The most profound statement in here was “take note and choose how you will respond”.
The most powerful tool we have at our disposal is our choice in how we will respond. So often our choice is jerk-knee rather than a careful response after consideration of the facts. This was a reminder of that which we often overlook.

Joanne – so sorry for the delayed response to your comment. Isn’t it crazy how quickly we give up our power of choice? I need to write these types of thoughts to remind myself sometimes too! Thanks for joining the conversation.
