Bit-of-Joy #16
We cannot cure the world of sorrows, but we can choose to live in joy – Joseph CampbellSome days, hearing of yet another act of violence or hatred, I wonder if focusing on joy is putting a band-aid on a gaping wound. Or if choosing joy is a feeble attempt to ignore pain and sorrow - to live in delusion. But joy is not found within the source of the sorrow.Joy provides the strength within me to face the pain and do all I can to heal the wounded.Joy provides the courage within me to confront the causes of violence and hatred and to become part of the solution rather than part of the problem.Joy provides the wisdom needed to speak or act to bring about change - big or small - when the opportunity arises.Joy provides hope for a better tomorrow.Joy provides light in the darkness of night.
