What's On My Mind (WOTY)

What’s on My Mind – Word of the Year

My word of the year is Intentionality. I wrote about it in Welcoming In the New Year with a Sink Full of Dirty Dishes.

After a lifetime of being a proud night owl – able to stay up late hours to “get things done.” And when in an obsessive mood, I often pulled an all-nighter. I’ve intentionally, with purpose, shifted my rhythm.

I’ve intentionally focused on my writing, and to do that well, I need to give it adequate time and consistent attention.

I go to bed by about 10:30 each night, rise hours before my first client calls (and even on non-workdays), and I write in the mornings.

My compilation of blog posts, photos, reflections, and poetry is almost complete. I’m planning to publish soon! If you are interested in being an alpha-reader, please let me know.

Ultimately, intentionality is NOT about meeting goals but about being mindful and being purposeful.

When I find myself scrolling through social media mindlessly, I catch myself and ask: Do I want to be doing this right now?

Sometimes, after a 15-client-call day, the answer is “YES!” Sometimes, the answer is “NO!” and I get up to move, complete a chore, or pick up a book to read.

Each day, I ask myself how I’d like to spend any time that is not scheduled. I listen to my body, my mind, and my heart to find intentionality in what I am doing and how I am being. You can read more about my words, mottos, and questions for 2022 here.
